How Roundkin Came to Be
Roundkin started with a fairly simple observation: a lot of family tension is not really about the big things. It is about small, unspoken differences in how people talk — and a shared pile of papers that nobody has sorted through in years.
The founder, who spent several years facilitating group conversations in Penang before starting Roundkin, noticed that most households had never sat down to decide where their records actually live, or how they wanted to bring up difficult topics as a family. Not because they did not care, but because nobody had ever offered them a structured, unhurried way to do it.
Roundkin was set up in George Town to fill that gap. We run small workshops on two complementary tracks: one that focuses on how households talk to each other, and one that helps them get their papers and contacts into a single, usable reference. The two tracks connect — families who feel heard are more willing to sit down and sort through their documents, and families who know where their records are tend to argue less about what to do next.
We deliberately keep our sessions small, our scope clear, and our language plain. We are not advisers — we do not tell people what decisions to make about their finances, their health, or their legal matters. We are educators and facilitators, helping households build the communication and organisational habits that make those conversations a little easier to have.

Siew Chin has facilitated group conversations in Penang for over a decade, with a particular focus on helping households navigate shared matters calmly and practically.

Records Organisation Specialist
Ahmad brings a background in administrative systems to each Binder Session and Records Programme, helping households build reference structures that are easy to maintain over time.

Workshop Coordinator
Hui Yi manages session scheduling, participant materials, and follow-up communications — keeping each workshop running smoothly from first enquiry through to the final printed handbook.

How We Work
Clear Scope at Every Session
Every workshop begins with a brief explanation of what the session will and will not cover. Participants always know what they can expect before the session starts.
Privacy Within the Room
Household details discussed in workshops stay within the group. We do not retain, record, or share information about the personal matters raised in sessions.
Quality Printed Materials
Prompt decks, binder drafts, and handbooks are reviewed before each session to make sure wording is current, clear, and genuinely useful for households in Malaysia.
Facilitated by Experienced Practitioners
Workshop facilitators have backgrounds in group facilitation and administrative systems — not in legal, financial, or medical disciplines, which keeps our sessions within an honest and appropriate scope.
Feedback Built Into Every Programme
Participants in the multi-session Records Programme are invited to provide feedback between sessions, allowing us to adjust pace and content before the next meeting.

When questions move outside our scope, we help participants identify the right type of professional to consult — without making referrals to specific individuals or firms.
About Our Work in Penang
Family Communication and Household Record Organisation in George Town
Roundkin operates from George Town, Pulau Pinang, where we have been running household workshops since our founding. Our sessions draw participants from across the island and from the mainland — families who want a structured, unhurried environment in which to improve how they talk and how they organise.
The Household Conversation Workshop teaches practical listening and summarising skills that can be applied to a wide range of family discussions. The Family Reference Binder Session walks a household through building a shared physical folder that shows where their records and contacts live. The Family Records Programme takes a more thorough approach over several weeks, covering inventory, labelling, scanning checklists, and family-meeting agenda templates, and concludes with a printed handbook the household keeps.
All three programmes are designed to be educational and administrative in nature. Roundkin does not provide legal advice, financial planning, healthcare guidance, or any service that would require professional licensing. Our facilitation background is in group communication and document organisation — and we stay clearly within that scope in every session.
Families in Malaysia face particular organisational challenges: managing records across multiple languages, understanding where physical and digital documents should live, and finding a calm way to talk across generations about shared household matters. Roundkin's materials are prepared with these realities in mind, drawing on local administrative norms and the practical experience of working with households in Penang over several years.
